Alyssa + Nick  - Surprise Proposal at Coffee Creek, Chesterton, IN

When Nick contacted me about planning a session for his beloved girlfriend and their pupper Lincoln I was super excited. Then he told me he wanted to propose to her during the session and I was PUMPED. In all my years as a photographer I've done a lot of different stuff but a surprise proposal was on my photographer's bucket list. I was both exhilarated and SO nervous to capture such a big moment for them. I had butterflies in my stomach the entire week leading up to the session and kept dreaming about it (one of the dreams involving the three of us going to Mexico for their session and spending our days drinking tequila but I digress). 

When we began the session we of course had to capture some family portraits with Alyssa, Nick and their sweet baby Lincoln. If you've known me for longer than 5 seconds you know I adore dogs....especially Goldens. This sweet boy stole my heart. But Im sure Nick was nervous as all get out waiting for the moment. The exact pose we planned out so he could surprise Alyssa with a ring when she turned around.

Her reaction...was...captivating. The JOY on her face just made my heart jump. They love these two share is so special and true. I don't remember all of the things Nick said to her as he was down on one knee asking her to spend forever with him. But I do remember the way everything felt. I remember the sun coming through the trees and lighting up these lovebirds in a morning glow. I remember the warmth on our skin. I remember this overgrown path feeling like an adventure and winding back and around and how they looked walking uncharted territory together. Making images that feel is important to me and I think these feel like Alyssa and Nick's moment.

After the big surprise proposal we finished the session out...Alyssa adorned with her latest acquired bling. These two are the real deal you guys. Salt of the earth. I'm so thankful for them having me come along side them to document such a magical moment. Congrats you guys!
